The GORE
®
Cover System is such a fantastic tech-
nology, that Astoria Invest has set it as its goal to
promote it. Astoria calls this technology “Super-
Compost” technology as it takes Mother Nature’s
natural process and accelerates the rotting activity.
Within 8 weeks, organic waste has been transfor-
med into compost – isn’t that super?
The concept can be conveyed well to local authori-
ties and municipalities and the potential this tech-
nology has, to offer a solution to the growing waste
management problems being faced, quickly becomes
apparent. In Germany organic waste has not been
dumped in landfill for many years, however, this is
not the case in many other countries. Astoria makes
the most of this situation and strives to participate
in the search for a suitable solution using the Super-
Compost technology.
The development of a Super-Compost plant is
approached in a structured way: Beginning with a
market analysis to understand the current situation
and recognise the trends of the past to see where
we are heading. E.g. in the southeast of England,
organic waste is separated, collected and com-
posted, but this trend has only just begun. In other
words, this is a good time to approach and expand
the market without encroaching on the competition.
New capacities are created.
Project development is a drawn-out and costly
undertaking. Risks and costs can be managed by
taking a structured approach. This involves doing
detailed market assessments of the region including
analysis of the waste streams, of the competition
and of the contracts already tendered out.
As soon as a potential location has passed infra-
structure and engineering requirements it is short-
listed. Individual second phase studies are done to
better understand the local pricing as well as the
local politics and the willingness to permit com-
posting sites. By doing this we can filter out those
local authorities which have been more reserved
about similar projects in the past. The Market
assessments and analysis combined with the close
cooperation with the planning and approvals specia-
lists, allows the process to be managed and the
risks in the development of a site to be mitigated.
By implementing the above described structured
process for project development, the risks involved
can be identified and mitigated in advance. There
are already over 80 existing Super-Compost plants
worldwide and we are convinced that with Astoria’s
project development efforts, the number of Super-
Compost plants will increase within the next few
years.
So eine klasse Techno-
logie wie die des GORE
®
Cover Systems muss
verbreitet werden. Das
hat sich die Astoria
Invest AG als Ziel ge-
setzt. Die von Astoria als
Super-Compost bezeich-
nete Technologie, nimmt
das natürliche Verfahren
von Mutter Erde und
beschleunigt den Ver-
rottungsprozess extrem.
Innerhalb von 8 Wochen
wird so organischer
Müll in Kompost umge-
wandelt – Super, oder?
Dieses Konzept kann
man auch sehr gut
Gemeinden und Kommu-
nen vermitteln und das
Potenzial dieser Techno-
logie als Lösung für das
immer mehr an Bedeu-
tung gewinnende Entsor-
gungsproblem darstellen.
In Deutschland werden
schon lange so gut wie
fast keine organischen
Abfälle mehr auf die
Deponie gebracht, aber
nicht so in vielen ande-
ren Ländern. Diese Lage
nutzt Astoria, um bei
der Lösungserarbeitung
gleich mitzuwirken und
die Lösung für den orga-
nischen Müllanteil mittels
einer Super-Compost-
Anlage anzubieten.
Die Projektentwicklung
wird sehr strukturiert
aufgebaut: Angefangen
von Marktanalysen um
die aktuelle Lage zu ver-
stehen sowie die Trends
der Vergangenheit zu
erkennen und zu sehen,
wo die Reise hingeht.
In Süd-Ost England
zum Beispiel wird schon
getrennt, gesammelt und
kompostiert, aber dieser
Trend hat erst begonnen.
Das heißt, hier kann man
ansetzen und den Markt
ausbauen ohne den
Wettbewerb zu verdrän-
gen. Die Kapazitäten
werden also ausgebaut.
Die Projektentwicklung
ist ein langwieriger und
aufwändiger Prozess.
Durch den strukturierten
Ansatz der Marktanalyse
und im nächsten Schritt
die Analyse der geogra-
Astoria schreibt sich „Super-Compost“
auf die Fahne
phischen Gegebenheiten
sowie der Weg der Stoff-
ströme, die Aktivitäten
des Wettbewerbs sowie
die Analyse der aktuell
vergebenen Verträge,
lässt sich dieser Prozess
steuern und die Risiken
der Entwicklung ent-
schärfen.
Sobald Grundstücke aus
baulicher und infrastruk-
tureller Sicht in die en-
gere Auswahl kommen,
werden jeweils individuel-
le Analysen gemacht um
Preise sowie die lokale
Politik zu studieren und
die Genehmigungsbereit-
schaft für eine Kompos-
tierungsanlage zu prüfen.
Dieses Vorgehen können
bereits die Gemeinden
herausfiltern, die in der
Vergangenheit eher
zurückhaltend auf solche
Projekte reagiert haben.
Mit diesem Ansatz und
mit der Zusammenarbeit
mit Genehmigungs-
spezialisten können auch
hier die Risiken weiter
reduziert werden.
Durch den von der
Astoria Invest AG
dargestellten und ver-
folgten strukturierten
Entwicklungsansatz las-
sen sich so die Entwick-
lungsrisiken im Vorfeld
erkennen und minimie-
ren. Wir sind überzeugt,
dass zu den bereits
über 80 bestehenden
Kompostierungsanlagen
mit der Super-Compost
Technologie noch
viele weitere durch die
Astoria Invest AG in
den nächsten Jahren
entwickelt werden.
