UTV AG takes quality management very seriously and is DIN/ISO certified.

We are also focusing on quality in the European context for the UTV system, which has been recognised as the best available technology (BAT) for the biological treatment of organic waste under the EU's Emissions Directive IED. This demonstrates an appropriate reduction in emissions and is a prerequisite for permitting procedures at European level.

For Germany, there is a legal authorisation as "operational enclosure according to TA Luft". This means that the UTV technology also fulfils the requirements of the strict German legislation.

In addition, an eco-efficiency study by the bifa environmental institute highlights that composting with a membrane cover has the highest emissions retention compared to other biological waste treatment processes.

With certification in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management system, we ensure transparent processes and optimised workflows and at the same time send an important signal about our quality efforts to our customers and partners.

EU recognition as best available technology

The UTV windrow composting system with the GORE® membrane and cover is officially recognised under the EU Industrial Emissions Directive IED as Best Available Technique BVT for the biological treatment of biodegradable waste in the EU. The aim of BVT is to reduce emissions and impact on the environment.

The recognised best available technology "Semipermeable membrane covers with forced aeration with GORE®-Cover" applies throughout Europe to various biological treatments such as composting, stabilisation and bio-drying. The described technology and emission limits form the basis for permitting procedures for the construction of biological waste treatment plants in Europe.

For Germany, the windrow composting system with the GORE® membrane and cover meets the strict requirements of the Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control (TA Luft) and is therefore authorised as an "operational enclosure" as defined in the instructions.

Compared biowaste treatment processes: (1) Composting, open | (2) Composting, closed | (3) Composting, partially closed | (4) Fermentation, batch process | (5) Fermentation, plug-flow process | (6) Wet fermentation | (7) Waste incineration plant | (8) Composting, membrane process.

Result: With good operation of fermentation and composting plants, the environmental differences between the treatment alternatives - with the exception of open composting - are small. Composting by encapsulation with a semi-permeable membrane cover (8) has the lowest ecology index and is therefore the process with the highest environmental impact when considering average plant operation, but is close to closed/partially closed composting and plug-flow/wet fermentation.
