Project Wilmington

EDiS Company has completed the largest composting facility of its kind on the east coast of the USA with our efficient UTV system. The Wilmington Organic Recycling Centre was built on a brownfield site. One of the biggest challenges of building on this site was the inability to remove unsuitable or excess soil from the site. By the end of the project, 7,000 cubic metres of concrete had been placed between the concrete foundation, the floor slab of the building and the floor slabs and headwalls of the Gore composting system. More than 6,000 cubic metres of concrete were placed in the pressure walls in two and a half months. In addition, almost 47,000 square metres of asphalt were laid on the construction site within one and a half months. Thanks to the speedy construction work, the plant was able to go into operation one month before the planned opening date. Since 2008, the plant in Wilmington has composted an impressive 60,000 tonnes of organic and green waste in just a few weeks.
